Rod Kurtz

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

RKE

In today’s media world, everyone is in the content business. Smart entrepreneurs are seizing upon this and developing their own media brands as a way of connecting and engaging with customers through authentic storytelling. Rod Kurtz works with companies across industries to help build these brands through blog posts, guest columns, social media, video, speaking engagements and beyond.

For more than a decade, Kurtz served as a journalist and advocate on behalf of entrepreneurs—until finally becoming one himself. Today, he oversees RKE, a New York–based media strategy firm that works with a variety of brands, including LinkedIn, Contently and American Express OPEN Forum, where he serves as editor at large. His work can be seen in publications including The New York Times, Entrepreneur, CNNMoney and The Content Strategist by Contently, and he appears regularly on TV and radio, including MSNBC, CNN and The Today Show. He is also a guest lecturer in entrepreneurship at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Previously, he served as executive editor of HuffPost Small Business, which he launched in 2011; executive editor of AOL Small Business; senior editor at Inc. and Inc.com; and small business editor at Businessweek.com.
