Rebecca Wesson Darwin

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Garden & Gun

Rebecca Wesson Darwin is the president and chief executive officer of The Allée Group LLC, which owns Garden & Gun. Darwin decided to create Garden & Gun in spring 2007 after realizing that most of her favorite publications spoke primarily to readers on the coasts and not to the rest of the country. Her goal was to craft a magazine that would appeal to men and women interested in the sporting life, adventurous travel, and good food and drink.

Named 2015 winner of the National Magazine Award in General Excellence (Style & Design), Garden & Gun has consistently been recognized as an industry leader. Award highlights include No. 2 hottest launch of 2007 with more than 700 magazines; 2011 National Magazine Award in General Excellence in Food, Travel and Design; National Magazine Award for Most Delicious Cover in 2013; and the James Beard Foundation Journalism Award in 2014. The Garden & Gun brand has continued to develop under her direction through the creation of G&G Mercantile, G&G events, G&G Land, and the Garden & Gun Jubilee.

Darwin established her career at GQ, where she implemented national retail advertising and promotions programs and later became the first female publisher of The New Yorker, as well as publisher of Mirabella and marketing director of Fortune. Darwin also served as the president and chief executive officer of the National Association for Female Executives.
