Hearst Is Now Making 25% of Its Profits From Business Services
Storied print, broadcasting and digital company looks to the future: The privately held magazine publisher, TV station owner, minority owner of cable networks including ESPN and A+E, and new media investor makes a quarter of its profits from business services, ranging from ratings agency Fitch to Hearst Health to Floor Covering Weekly.

“And now, the pendulum is swinging back a little bit as people are reminded of the traditional consumer behavior principles; people want to be relaxed, leaned back and inspired. And digital media is not great when it comes to that and print media is. So, I think that as an industry, we’re now ready to have this conversation again.” Says Marisa Davis.

IAB Chief "Can't Deal With This Sh!t," Demands Members Join TAG
The IAB's new requirement comes as a litany of problems has hurt digital media in the eyes of ad buyers and consumers alike. In January, P&G's Marc Pritchard revealed that he was so startled by the company's digital ad fraud audit that he would stop working with companies that didn't register with TAG. "The days of giving digital a pass are over," Mr. Pritchard said then. In March, marketers "paused" YouTube spending after their ads ran next to violent and offensive videos. JPMorgan Chase cut digital ads down to 5,000 from 400,000 domains after learning that one of its ads ran on a site called Hillary 4 Prison, under a headline about "the Satanic liberal perverts who run Hollywood."

On Monday, the tech giant announced Subscribe with Amazon, a new program that lets publishers and other digital creators sell digital subscriptions directly inside Amazon’s platform. Rather than buying a digital subscription from a publisher’s website, readers can now buy a digital subscription directly from Amazon’s site or apps.
