The digital advertising platforms have yet to adopt independent audits of ad campaigns, according to a new report by industry group ANA."
In the U.K. - Ebook Sales Continue to Fall As Younger Generations Drive Appetite for Print
Readers committed to physical books can give a sigh of relief, as new figures reveal that ebook sales are falling while sales of paper books are growing - and the shift is being driven by younger generations. More than 360m books were sold in 2016 - a 2% jump in a year that saw UK consumers spend an extra 6%, or £100m, on books in print and ebook formats, according to findings by the industry research group Nielsen in its annual books and consumer survey. The data also revealed good news for bricks-and-mortar bookshops, with a 4% rise in purchases across the UK.
Hearst’s Troy Young: Half Our Content Will Be Video Soon
Hearst Magazines has some of the most storied brands in the magazine business, from Cosmopolitan to Esquire. Right now, video is a sidelight, accounting for about 10-15 percent of its content. But in a few years time, video should be half of output, said Troy Young, global president for digital at Hearst Magazines.

The Economist’s Paul Rossi: Trump Is Driving Subscriptions
Paul Rossi, president of The Economist, joined Digiday editor-in-chief Brian Morrissey for a discussion at Digiday Publishing Summit Japan in February. Some highlights: For The Economist, the election of Donald Trump has been good for its subscription business. The Economist saw its daily subscription rate go up five times. “We might not agree with the content coming out of Washington, but it’s a fantastic time to be writing.” Rossi is a staunch believer in being clear-eyed with it comes to platforms like Facebook. For the Economist, Facebook and Google are a way to drive subscriptions, often through providing samples of their content to a new audience.

Condé Nast acquired Pop2Life and Ribyt: The company said the two acquisitions will “substantially bolster” its existing events and experiences business and “allow for the creation of new consumer and industry experiences” inspired by its various titles.
