Jim Elms is the global chief executive officer for Initiative one of Interpublic Group’s (NYSE: IPG) three worldwide media networks and part of the company’s IPG Mediabrands unit. Elms is responsible for the agency’s global strategy, direction and operations. Under his leadership, the agency has developed its global culture of being Fast, Brave, Decisive and Simple (FBDS).  The FBDS way of working has inspired the global Initiative network to push the envelope and develop creative means of spreading our clients’ messages in ways that consumers embrace. It is this thinking and leadership that earned him the honor of 2013’s Media magazine Executive of the Year award. In addition, his peers and the industry have recognized the value of his approach, as they invited Elms to serve as a member of the Cannes Lions 60th Anniversary Media Grand Jury in 2013.

Through his career, which spans over 20 years, Elms has contributed to several outstanding advertising campaigns, from the inception of the “Got Milk” masterpiece to numerous world-renowned Nike campaigns.  His client portfolio includes Amazon, Hyundai-Kia, Unilever, Sonic Drive-in, Procter & Gamble, ExxonMobil, Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson, E*Trade, Canon, Porsche and Dairy Queen, among many others. He also has had extensive experience in the beverage and spirits industry with clients including MillerCoors, AB Inbev and most recently Sazerac.
