Kelly Awards Honor Outstanding Magazine Media Advertising in Three Categories

Winners to be Announced at the American Magazine Media Conference on February 5, 2019

New York, NY (October 17, 2018) – MPA – The Association of Magazine Media is now accepting entries for the 2019 Kelly Awards, presented by Quad/Graphics. The awards honor the creative spirit of excellence and innovation in the art of advertising in magazine media. They are given to agency creative teams, advertising clients and magazine media publishers whose campaigns demonstrate both creative distinction and effectiveness in meeting campaign objectives.

MPA re-established the esteemed awards to shine a light on the unrivaled merits of magazine advertising. According to Millward Brown Digital, advertising in print in combination with other media adds substantially to the persuasion metrics. Print ads yield greater increases in brand awareness, brand favorability and purchase intent than online or TV advertising.

“Not only are magazines the most influential and trusted of all media, they are also the best place to drive sales,” said Linda Thomas Brooks, president and chief executive officer, MPA – The Association of Magazine Media. “Consumers believe in magazine brands and transfer that belief to the advertising. The Kelly Awards will celebrate this trust by showcasing the high level of craft that goes into print advertising and recognize its ability to drive solid, demonstrable results.”

The awards will be offered in three categories: Best Print Magazine Creative, Best Magazine Media Creative/Campaign and Best Custom Magazine Media Program. To qualify, at least one ad of the campaign must have appeared in a 2018 print issue of an American magazine. Agency creative teams, advertising clients and magazine media publishers are all encouraged to submit their best work on advertising creative, multi-platform campaigns and custom programs that effectively meet strategic objectives in a creative manner. Magazine brands do not need to be a member of MPA to enter the awards.

Last year’s winners include Food Network Magazine and Mediacom/Starcom for “M&M’s Caramel Launch – Advent Accordion Pop-Out Unit”; O, The Oprah Magazine for “The O Mag Insiders for Chico's, Pandora & Clinique”; and ELLE and Mindshare for “Personal Style Awards.”

A panel of judges composed of top agency creative directors and marketing executives will review entries in their areas of expertise and judge finalists on the goals, elements and impact of the advertisement or advertising campaign.

Winners will be announced at the American Magazine Media Conference in New York City on February 5, 2019. For more information on the Kelly Awards and how to enter, visit
