Senior Editor at Drone360

Kalmbach Publishing Co. has an outstanding career opportunity for a senior editor at Drone360, our exciting new brand covering every aspect of unmanned aerial vehicles. The Drone360 brand includes a cutting-edge magazine published six times per year and a vibrant and expanding web presence. The senior editor will serve a crucial role in editing and creating content for all extensions of the brand, and will serve as the editor-in-chief’s second-in-command, overseeing day-to-day operations.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The senior editor assigns, writes and edits feature stories, magazine departments, columns and news stories. This position maintains productive relationships with top freelance journalists who cover drones and related technology and trends, and works with staff editors as well as the art department to conceive and develop high-quality content. The senior editor will also work closely with the web editor to help create, edit and maintain materials for Drone360’s website and social media reach.

This position may also serve in the field as an ambassador of the brand, representing Drone360 at its own branded events, as well as other shows, technical conferences and events of editorial interest. The successful candidate should also demonstrate sufficient knowledge and interest in consumer drones/UAVs. A basic understanding of the social, commercial and legislative issues facing consumer/commercial drones will be expected.


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • At least 5 years of experience in writing about science or technology for consumer magazines, newspapers, or general-audience websites.
  • Degree in journalism, English, or an adjacent field.
  • Excellent team-building skills.
