Research Assistant at Reader's Digest


Contribute to the day-to-day research operations of a multiplatform publication that produces a large volume of content for both print and digital products. This is a critical role that includes our flagship magazine with a 3M+ circulation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, can identify and seek out reputable sources, and is able to work quickly and efficiently.


  • Assist research editor by fact-checking articles, verifying quotes, and contacting contributors.
  • Learn how to report and fact-check articles for and other digital applications.
  • Assist editors with various research queries such as accessing medical studies, looking up court cases, finding contact information for article subjects, accessing articles from other publications.
  • Manage multiple magazine and online subscriptions, including cataloguing each month.
  • Collaborate on editorial projects throughout the year, such as brainstorming future content.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • A minimum of two years reference, fact checking, or reporting experience.
  • Proficient in electronic databases such as LexisNexis, EBSCOHost, PubMed, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics and research techniques.
  • Experience using cataloguing software to maintain our library of books, magazines, journals, etc.

 Minimum Education Required:

  • MLS from an ALA accredited library school.
  • A background in English or Journalism is preferred.
  • Experience working for a magazine, newspaper or college publication is desirable.
