The Osborn Elliott-National Magazine Awards Scholarship 2019 Recipients

Jennifer Doherty, 28, grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she attended Tulane University. After graduating summa cum laude in 2012 with triple majors in international development, English and French, she moved to Paris, France. She worked in various roles while living abroad, including teaching English and project support at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, an intergovernmental forum for policy dialogue and coordination. Jennifer’s experiences in France deepened her interest in social and economic policy issues. She looks forward to developing her writing and investigative skills at Columbia Journalism School in order to pursue a career in print journalism.
Jon Querolo, 23, is a 2016 graduate of the College of William & Mary, where he majored in finance and Japanese. Since graduation, he has worked as a producer in the Washington Bureau of NHK, Japan's national public television station. In this role, he has covered breaking news and produced feature stories on the US economy for Japanese audiences. He is looking forward to attending Columbia Journalism School where he will look to refine his writing, interview and investigative skills. Jon was born and raised in Reston, Virginia.
Dominick Reuter is an Atlanta native and a 2008 graduate of Boston University, where he studied photojournalism and U.S. history, while taking numerous leadership roles at the independent student newspaper. Since 2011, Dominick has been a full-time freelance photojournalist contributing to local, national and International newspapers and wire services. While in Boston, Dominick covered stories with a nationally impact, including the Boston Marathon bombing and aftermath, the criminal trials of mobster Whitey Bulger and former NFL player Aaron Hernandez, and the 2016 presidential campaign. In 2015, Dominick relocated with his wife to New Jersey where he continues to cover politics and other daily news topics for wire services and other news organizations.
