Food and Nutrition Editor at Prevention

Prevention, the leading health and wellness brand, seeks a creative, organized, and resourceful Food & Nutrition Editor to join our staff in either our New York or Emmaus, PA location. This position reports to the Executive Editor.

The candidate will work closely with senior staff to develop content that is newsworthy and engaging. Responsibilities will include researching ideas, writing story proposals, assigning compelling articles, and editing to a high degree of excellence.

The ideal candidate is a curious and energetic journalist, a self-starter with great organizational skills, and an immediate contributor in terms of generating and executing ideas. The candidate should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, juggle various tasks, and work well with Prevention staff and others throughout the company. Professionalism, creativity, and accountability are musts; personal interest and experience in food, nutrition, health and wellness is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with senior members of the editorial team to develop superb content
  • Generating compelling ideas and shaping them to meet readers’ needs
  • Overseeing columns and features from proposal through shipping
  • Upholding the highest health journalism standards

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or English required; master’s degree a plus
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience as an editor in similar capacity
  • Experience in health research and reporting
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills
  • Familiarity with K4 or similar publishing system
  • Familiarity with online publishing and content creation for the web
