LOCATION: Stamford, Connecticut (Offices convenient to Stamford Metro North Station via 10-minute complimentary shuttle bus ride)

Are you a social media-savvy aspiring media professional, with top-notch written communication skills? This Old House is seeking a full-time social media and e-newsletter editor with Web writing skills to work primarily with our home-improvement site ThisOldHouse.com and first-time homeowner site, House.One. The person in this role will also collaborate with This Old House magazine and television production teams and talent for This Old House and Ask This Old House. This position is based in our Stamford, Connecticut office.

The person in this role will be responsible for posting to and providing reports on all social platforms, e-newsletters, and other audience engagement platforms (forums, comments, etc), with a focus on growing and nurturing our core This Old House site community and establishing and curating a community for our newest property, House One. We’re looking for someone who can dive into data and analytics for guidance, but also knows how to be innovative. This role calls for understanding how a This Old House Facebook post should be different from a House One Instagram post and creatively crafting content to have the greatest organic engagement and impact in each space. The person in this role will also be responsible for assisting in fulfillment of social media campaigns for our sales and marketing teams. There will be opportunities to write social media-informed content for ThisOldHouse.com and assist with our membership platform, This Old House Insider.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain daily schedule for social media channels (editorial promotions and marketing fulfillments)
  • Write and schedule social media deployments
  • Produce and schedule e-newsletters for deployment
  • Assist in development of content strategy for social platforms and newsletters (including ongoing algorithm tracking and growth hacking research for applicable platforms)
  • Collaborate across print, digital, television, and marketing departments to create a holistic representation of the brand on social media
  • Make custom-creative for social media and newsletters, as needed
  • Other Web-related production tasks, as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate degree in communications or related field
  • 1-2 years’ relevant experience (this may include internships or collegiate media)
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and platform-specific analytics
  • Experience/Proficiency with Photoshop and Premiere a plus
  • Experience/Proficiency with After Effects a plus
