The law is changing as fast as your job description. Are you keeping up?

Join us for ASME's 2019 Legal Briefing for Magazine Editors to find out about the latest legal developments affecting your brand. In a fast-paced day-long program, we'll discuss what you need to know to keep your magazine—and writers, photographers, bloggers and publisher—out of court and on top of the competition

TWO SESSIONS

Morning Session: Business Law for Magazine Editors (9:30am to 12:30pm; breakfast will be provided)

Topics include: How to protect your brand and content online; collect and use reader information; and run social sweeps and promotions; as well as updates on FTC regulations concerning endorsements and promotions; legal issues in responsive marketing; and the effects of overtime rules on employer-employee relations

Afternoon Session: Journalism Law for Magazine Editors (2:00 to 5:30pm)

Topics include: Guidelines for social media, streaming video and native advertising; what to know about music rights; fact, fiction and the imperiled role of the fact-checker; the definition of fair use in the digital context; and, of course, the latest about protecting your magazine from libel and invasion of privacy claims
